High-performance imagery: eCommerce success is impossible without it
High-performance imagery: eCommerce success is impossible without it
Finding eCommerce success via high-performance imagery
Whether you like it or not, most of us spend a decent amount of our waking lives in worlds behind screens.
Images then, whether moving or still, have never held more power than they do today.
Most of you probably know this. But what might be surprising is that that the quality of your visuals has a huge impact on the success of your business.
Enter high-performance imagery.
(AKA the kind of stuff we create.)
What is high-performance imagery?
Imagery that is exceptionally detailed, realistic and impactful; that obliterates the limits of standard imagery, leveraging advanced digital technologies to create highly immersive content.
At Insite, our high-performance product imagery is photoreal, immersive and highly customisable.
Why is it important?
First consider that:
The brain processes images much faster than text. How much faster? 60,000 times faster.
If an image is attached to a block of information, we are 65% more likely to remember it three days later. Without that image, the figure drops to 10%.
On social media (of which 63% is made up of images) posts with images attract 2.3x more engagement than those without (Facebook), and those with videos attract 38% more engagement than those with still images (Instagram).
That being said, attracting eyeballs is harder than ever – especially when it comes to eCommerce. High-performance product imagery cuts through an ocean subpar-quality content and stops scrolling thumbs in their tracks.
How do we achieve it?
- Market-leading 3D modelling – meticulously detailed models of objects, environments, ensuring accuracy in every aspect.
- Advanced rendering technology – powerful (and always the latest) software and hardware that can create photorealistic images with finely detailed aesthetics.
- Lifelike texturing and materials – crucial to creating photoreal imagery, digital textures on 3D models mimic real-world surfaces such as fabric, wood or metal.
- Simulated lighting and atmosphere – virtual studio shoots allow us to create both natural and artificial lighting environments, and all accompanying shadows and reflections.
- Bringing the render to life – through 360 spins, zooms, animations, and mixed-reality content.
High-performance imagery facts & stats
While there are exceptions to very rule, here are a few rules-of-thumb when it comes to high-performance imagery and eCommerce:
- MINIMALISM – clean product images surrounded by more negative space attract 29% more likes than those that are too loud or cluttered.
- VARIATION – 10-12 images per product seems to be the sweet spot for maximum consumer conversions.
- IMMERSION – that being said, 60% of eyeballs prefer a 360-spin option so as to see a product from every possible angle.
- DETAIL – images with detailed textures attract 79% more likes than those without them.
- CONSISTENCY – consumers are more likely to trust and engage if product imagery on socials matches and is also featured on your website.
